Looking for opinions on which one to buy.

I plan on putting many more miles on the highway than off-road, and most likely wouldn't go on anything more off-road than dirt and gravel roads.

This will be my first adventure bike, but not first motorcycle.

I'm leaning towards the 1000, but is it a smarter move to put the cash that I'd spend on the 1000 as a down payment on a much newer (but smaller) bike?
