Hi everyone, I’ll be graduating next year with a Chemical Engineering degree and I’m trying to understand the different career paths available for Chem Eng graduates in Singapore.
Right now the market doesn’t look too great from what I’m seeing. Pharma affected by US tariffs, O&G and petrochem are heavily impacted by the Iran conflict.
I’m mainly interested in process engineering roles, but I’m also open to other opportunities if the market is tough.
I wanted to ask:
- What are some government/statutory board roles Chem Eng graduates can apply for? (PUB, NEA, etc.)
- For those who graduated with Chem Eng, what roles did you or your friends end up in?
- How difficult is it to secure a process engineer role currently?
- Which industries are still hiring actively in Singapore?
- How transferable are skills from process engineering to other sectors later on? (Pharma to semicon)
