I’m looking to upgrade my printer. My A1 recently had a heat sensor failure, and since it was my first printer, I took it apart to learn more about how it works internally. It has several thousand hours on it, so I’ve gained a lot of experience with it.

While I’m working on repairing the A1, I want to pick up an upgrade as well. I’m considering going bigger, but I’m not sure if I’m buying into something I don’t actually need.

My use case is mixed:

  • Printing minis
  • Printing cosplay props
  • Making functional parts for home use

Right now I’m deciding between the X2D, H2D, and H2C. Each seems to have its own advantages, but I’d like input from people who actually own them—what made you choose your machine, and what would you warn against?

For context, this is just for personal use in a small home setup. I’m not running a business, I'm mostly making gifts, hobby projects, and practical parts. A lot of set it and forget it.

I’m especially curious about:

  • Dual nozzle systems vs single nozzle / hot-swap systems
  • Real-world print quality differences
  • Whether going larger is actually worth it for my needs, or if I’m just chasing a “bigger is better” upgrade

Also, if anyone has recommendations for a solid extended warranty or service plan that’s actually worth the money, I’d appreciate that as well.

I know I am a bit scattered in this but I hope someone can help me out, I ask that you please be civil and not dog pile.
