Assuming I pass the prep program, does when I start the 2nd entry nursing program change depending on whether I registered for the fall or winter prep program? (Do I have to wait a semester or two to start? Does the 2nd entry start immediately the next semester?)

And are the structure and support for the classes/students the same between the fall and winter?

I've taken an unrelated college program before that starts in the winter instead of typical fall, and it meant specific stores and resources weren't available, less office hours, etc. I was a bit of a nightmare as it was organized better for the fall students when most students would start and would like to know if there's a similar difference in the Fall and Winter prep courses/2nd entry

Basically as the title states, I graduated from UofT life sciences with a 3.2 CGPA, but was stuck in a completely unrelated job for three years. I'm currently 27 an feeling like I'm falling behind.

I applied for some programs last fall and got accepted into Mohawk's cardiovascular technologist (CVT) program. I was however also wait listed for Mohawks radiation sciences or ultrasonography programs and likely will not receive an offer.

While I was waiting for the status of my application I learned that being a registered nurse opens up more pathways in your career and could provide better pay down the line while a CVT does not.

Given the 4 years at UofT and my CGPA, would applying for accelerated programs like at McMaster or UofT make sense? Or would my grades not be competitive enough?

Would it make more sense to decline my CVT acceptance and retake courses at UofT as a non-degree student in hopes of later applying to one of these programs?

Or should I stay the course as a CVT and look to becoming a nurse after some experience with the job?

Edit: If it makes any difference, I'm located in the Halton region and have a preference for programs closer to here.

Graduated from UofT's life science with a 3.2 cgpa but has stuck working an unrelated job for three years. Now I'm currently 27 an feeling like I'm falling behind.

To give some context of where I'm currently at, I don't have a strong interest in any specific career path but am willing to put the leg work in to get there. Last fall I applied to Mohawk's sonography, radiation sciences, and cardiovascular tech (CVT) program. I found out I got accepted into the CVT program, my third choice, but waitlisted and unlikely to get into the to other programs which I would have preferred.

Upon doing more research however, it appears that becoming a registered nurse through a university program would yield a better pay and career flexibility than a cardio vascular tech.

Would it make more sense to return to UofT as a non-degree student or continuing studies to raise the GPA in prerequisite courses for accelerated streams for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at McMaster or UofT? And if so, should I be doing continuing studies courses or retake courses as a non-degree student?

Is it possible to get in with my current CGPA?

Or should I stay the course and continue on the path of a CVT and apply for these programs down the line?
