Hi, our family bought this 1955 NorCal home and the wiring looks really old and some 2 prong outlets throughout the home, some 3 prong (there was a partial remodel.) So do we have to call pest control before an electrician will even touch this? Also, what kind of wiring does this look to be? I'm hoping not knob and tube..

Any cost-efficient ways to remedy this?

Still learning about what to look out for on mid-century homes like this.

Thanks for any input you might have. 😊

Hi our family bought a 1955 home in NorCal and I'm looking online at things to watch out for in an old midcentury home and this is just but one issue. I feel like we were bullshitted by the inspectors on lots of things. Possible knob & tube wiring but not sure where to find the original wiring (a partial re-wiring during re-model) with some of the outlets having 2 prongs and some with 3.. on top of electrical wires fried inside the box etc..

Anyways just looking for a cost-efficient way to fix all this corrosion without re-plumbing the entire home?

Thanks 😊
