I have a 2014 Jetta SE 1.8T (Mk6 pre-facelift) that didn’t come with factory fog lights, and I’m looking to do some OEM+ style upgrades, specifically a GLI front bumper swap to get a more aggressive look along with functional fog lights. From what I’ve seen, the 2012–2014 GLI bumper should physically bolt up to my car without major issues, but I’m trying to understand everything involved beyond just swapping the bumper. I know I’ll need the GLI front bumper, fog light housings, grilles, and likely a Euro headlight switch, but since my car didn’t come with fog lights, I’m assuming there’s no factory wiring already in place. My main concern is how to handle the wiring cleanly, whether it’s better to run a standalone harness with a relay or try to integrate it into the BCM for a more OEM-style setup. I also want to know how the Euro switch ties into everything, like if I need to run a trigger wire to a relay or pin anything into the existing headlight connector. I’m unsure if coding with VCDS or OBD11 is required for things like the dash indicator or proper functionality, or if that can be avoided with a standalone harness. I’m also debating whether it’s worth fully replicating the OEM GLI wiring even though it’s more complex, or if an aftermarket harness kit is the better route for a cleaner but simpler install. On top of that, I’m curious if there’s anything else needed for the bumper swap itself, like different brackets, fender liners, or supports, and if anyone has run into fitment issues going from an SE to a GLI front end. Overall, I’m trying to achieve a clean OEM+ look similar to a stock GLI, with fully functional fog lights that operate properly rather than a cheap or hacked-together setup, so any advice or experience with this swap would help a lot. I wanted to go for the look in the pics above with the fog lights and possibly the extra DRLs (Last pic is my grille at the moment)
