How I Grew My Portfolio 70% in a Year Without Chasing Hype.

How I Grew My Portfolio 70% in a Year Without Chasing Hype.

Last year, I decided to stop blindly following the "hot picks" everyone was talking about. Instead, I built a simple, repeatable strategy:

Focus on sectors I understand . For me, that was tech and storage semiconductors. I followed trends, but only in areas I could research deeply.

Patience over speed . I didn't jump on every meme stock. When others were panicking over daily swings, I was planning my next move.

Diversify sensibly 60-70% core stable holdings, 20-30% high growth, 5-10% experimental. Not everything is “the next NVDA.”

Use pullbacks as opportunities . I set alerts for dips and wait for confirmations. It’s boring, but it works.

Track and review monthly . Every month, I note what’s working, what’s not, and adjust slightly. No chasing after every shiny headline.

Result? My net worth increased from ~$140k to ~$240k in 12 months, roughly +70%. The chart isn’t perfect, but the logic is.

📌 A few lessons for anyone starting out:

Don’t get influenced by others’ gains.

Stick to your research, not hype.

Risk management is more important than perfect timing.

I'm up to $210,000 now, but I don't feel happy at all today.

Sitting on the balcony, gazing at the numbers in my account, I feel a bit surreal. Just a month ago, it was merely a few tens of thousands. Today? $216,000. That’s a gain of +326%.

My friends can hardly believe it, yet I haven't posted screenshots to my social feed or thrown a celebration. I simply lit a cigarette and thought to myself: the faster you make money, the more imperative it is to remain calm.

The market loves to reward not the cleverest people, but the most patient ones.

I began researching memory chips last year, keeping a close watch on Micron, SK Hynix, and HBM4 technology. While others were busy chasing the NVDA hype, I chose to wait for opportunities lurking in the overlooked corners of the market. Today, the sector dropped 5.42%; many people panicked and messaged me privately asking what to do. My response? "It's fine. I’ve actually been waiting three weeks for a pullback like this. I had already positioned myself for the next wave of opportunities during the after-hours session."

Here are a few sincere thoughts for those of you still finding your way on this journey:

📍 Don't let other people's profit screenshots go to your head.

📍 Don't let daily market swings—up one day, down the next—trigger your anxiety.

📍 The true logic behind making money in the market is simply calm, steadfast persistence.

I’ve started a small private group dedicated to discussing investment mindset and market opportunities—no bragging, and certainly no "harvesting the" (preying on retail investors). If you’re looking to exchange ideas, learn, and keep one another grounded, you’re welcome to join the conversation.

Position sizing with caution; invest at your own risk. Remember: all investments carry the potential for loss.
