On-site Interview: Employer doesn't want to pay
Hi everyone!
I'm here to seek your opinions and advices. I'm currently going through interviewing process for various companies and I got invited to a 2nd on-site interview. The problem is that, it's really far away (like at least 500km away) and I have to pay for it myself. I asked the hiring manager if they can provide some kind of monetary support but they replied they can't.
For some reason I have feeling its either they wanna test me how much I wanna work for them or their budget is really low...
My plan is to ask them for an online interview where we talk about about if they actually can afford to my wished salary or if there is some room to negotiate.
Info: A Software Developer role for a small company in NRW. I do kinda need a job but there is still some time since im 5-6 month away from graduating
