I am a commercial framing sub, and it’s finally time to upgrade/add some new plumbing lasers to our fleet. But I’ve been having to return the Bosch/Dewalt/Milwake lasers! Our guys have complained that they have a terrible design for real world work at least in the framing world. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this, many other subs typically praise our old PLS lasers saying “those are the best, they don’t make them like that anymore” not because they plumb better but because the new lasers have been designed to rest flush with the bottom track, making it impossible to know for sure if the point is on the track. I understand there intention but I’d like to see the point on the track to be 100% a little piece of debris isn’t between the laser and bottom track. Also, the laser shakes due to it being literally on the track. The track vibrates due to guys further down the wall starting to install sheathing. Also every so often we shoot our layout point up to make sure the guy up top is transferring layout perfectly! It’s annoying having to use a line laser to transfer it up top especially when you’re doing an exterior wall. Why carry 2 lasers when the single point laser is typically suffice. Wish these companies had production in mind, these lasers are used in a variety of ways! PLS used to make the perfect lasers and now it’s unclear if they even still make lasers since I can’t find any of there products in stock anywhere. These lasers seem to be designed for the DIYer.
