Bad Front Outer CV Joint?

2014 535d xDrive (F10), 167250 miles, slightly lowered, 15mm spacers for brake clearance with appropriately sized wheel bolts, aftermarket wheels. New front hubs and bearings 10k miles ago. Aligned, etc.

Picked this up for a steal in rough shape. Overhauled the whole car, but left the front stub axles as-is because they seemed fine. Since getting it back on the road, at almost full steering lock (85%+) the front end feels like it “skips” in both directions, as though it’s catching on each ball in the CV joint cage.

I feel like I know the answer already, but is this just a symptom of the spacers increasing the load on the front outer CV joints, or are the outer joints actually bad and need replacing?

I used Febest replacement CV joints on the rear outer and inner CVs and they have held up very well for the past 10k miles. Am I looking at a replacement of the fronts, too?
