Why should I use Dia?
I saw that the Dia team added vertical tabs, so I decided to give the browser another try. I last used it about half a year ago, and I still don't really understand why I should switch to it.
- Vertical tabs don't feel complete without dedicated workspaces. I need to be able to move between different projects and tasks with a keyboard shortcut.
- The built-in chat still feels weaker than ChatGPT itself. I can't use standard ChatGPT features like Study Mode, Deep Research, or image generation. So I'm not sure why I need a browser with a weaker AI assistant that browses on my behalf.
- Privacy is another concern. I don't know all the details, but the idea of one company tracking what I do across different websites feels uncomfortable. It sounds like Google, but potentially worse, because the chat could have context from my open tabs.
So I don't really understand why I should switch to Dia if its UX feels worse than Arc or Zen, its AI features feel weaker than Atlas or Comet, and its privacy story seems worse than Vivaldi, Brave, etc.
