Posting after conversation at work today. There is never a time where butter is needed. All I get back is that a sandwich will be too dry? That’s what sauce is for. There isn’t a single sandwich that can’t be made without using sauce. Much better taste than having greasy butter all over it.

Bacon sandwich? Brown sauce. Ham sandwich? Mayo or mustard. Chicken sandwich? Mayo or BBQ. Not one sandwich filling doesn’t go with a sauce that makes it 100 times better.

EDIT: I should have said this only applies for cold sandwiches. This does not apple for a grilled cheese and such.
