May Day 2026 is approaching, taking place on Saturday, May 02, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at the Louis Kurtz Civic Center, located at 9 N Main St, Spring Valley, NY 10977.

Do you feel the world is heading in the wrong direction? Are you frustrated with the influence of the billionaire class on our elected representatives? If you want to make a change, it's time to take the next step.

May Day has deep roots in the labor movement, originating from the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago, where workers demanded an eight-hour workday. Since then, May 1st has been recognized globally as International Workers’ Day, a day to honor the struggles and victories of working people everywhere.

We are building a coalition of like-minded individuals who are ready to build community, forge solidarity, and get organized. Join us in this important movement.

Rockland County, New York, is the smallest county by area in the state (excluding NYC boroughs), covering approximately 173-176 square miles. Despite its size, it offers an impressive amount of park space, with over one-third of the county designated as protected open space. This includes more than 42,000 acres of combined state, county, and municipal parks.

With over 42,000 acres, this equates to roughly 42 acres of parkland per 100 residents, which is over ten times the national recommendation.

This means that roughly one-third of the entire county is preserved as parkland, equating to about 42 acres of parkland per 100 residents—over ten times the national recommendation. The Rockland County Park System manages over 3,000 acres across more than 30 sites.

As we celebrate Earth Month, we reflect on the strides made to protect the natural spaces that define Rockland’s character and quality of life. Since reviving the County’s Open Space Acquisition Program in 2019, they have successfully purchased and preserved more than 330 acres of open space, reaffirming our commitment to maintaining the remarkable environment that makes our county a great place to live.
