My dog had a burn so about 50% of her body is exposed skin with no fur. The skin is very dry. We're currently moisturizing twice a day with coconut oil, but still then the hind leg is exposed all the time and very dry.
- Is there a more moisturizing cream/moisturizer that is safe for dogs? She licks the area so it absolutely needs to be safe if consumed
- Sunscreen? it's becoming very sunny and where I live is known to be sunny all summer. I love outdoor activities and hanging out on beaches and of course I want to take her. I am concerned about sun exposure. Do you have sunscreen recommendations that is safe when licked?
I'm assuming if we put on sunscreen but then we have to bathe her daily to get the sunscreen off. That will make the skin drier. Any good advice?
Thank you in advance!
**EDIT: she is fully treated and healed, but the burn was severe enough to lead to permanent hair loss.
She is a rescue and we just got her a week ago, so we're trying to hold off on seeing a vet until she gets settled in so as not to stress her out too much. Wanted for some advice before we go see a vet :) thx!
