I’m in grade 10 right now and thinking about graduating early and finishing after grade 11 in June 2027 (im class of 2028) . I want to do biomedical science at TMU because I’m really interested in it and I like the idea of working in a lab or doing medical lab type jobs. I’m also stuck between that, pharmacy, and nursing because I’m more introverted and I think I’d prefer a job where I can work more independently.

I’m planning this because I’ll have enough credits. I already have 15 right now, I’ll get 4 more this semester, 2 in the summer, and I’m planning to take 1 Ontario Virtual School course or js one summer school after gr 11 (idk yet) . Then I’d take 9 courses in grade 11 which would bring me to around 30 credits.

Right now I’m also taking some courses through credit recovery/ilc so I finished HSP3U with a 90 and I’m about to take Families in Canada in it. In my regular classes I have a 97 in grade 11 functions, 85 in grade 10 English (I’m planning to take grade 11 English in the summer), and a 65 in gym (dont judge i never go and skipped the whole month during ramadan😭✌️).

The thing is last semester I had all 50s, even in math. This semester I actually started trying and my marks improved a lot, but I don’t know if universities will care about that improvement or just focus on the earlier marks.

I’m also confused about how applying works if you graduate early. I know OUAC mainly looks at grade 11 and 12 marks, but does grade 10 matter at all in this case?

I’m pretty confident in graduating early, but my principal and guidance counsellor are kind of putting me down about it. For me it seems pretty doable and I already don’t like my school environment, so I honestly wouldn’t mind leaving early, I actually want to. I’m just not sure if it’s the right decision long term.

Also if anyone is in biomedical science, pharmacy, or nursing, how did you decide? I like the idea of nursing but I keep hearing it’s underpaid and overworked so I’m not sure.
