…absorb Anchor’s water. It’s obvious Mashima wanted to show that Gray and Juvia’s love overcame and defeated Anchor. Mashima is very selective with who gets emotional boosts (while characters like Gajeel get ignored) but that’s obviously what he wanted to show here.

Anchor says “I don’t know why but her magic power suddenly increased.” Meaning when Gray kissed Juvia her magic power became so strong it surpassed Anchor’s magic and she escaped his spell. It’s not because Juvia absorbed his magic. If it was his own magic, wouldn’t he know that?

Then Gray asks Juvia what happened and she claims she split Anchor’s magic. Split. Not absorb.

Next we see Gray grab Juvia and use her body to attack Anchor. No where did Juvia absorb Anchor’s water. Gray even says we’re going to use YOUR water to destroy HIS water.

Then Juvia calls the form the form of love. From a thematic standpoint that wouldn’t include Anchor’s water or magic. Just Gray and Juvia’s combined powers.

You can theorize all you want but claiming Juvia used Anchor’s own magic against him is pure head canon.

Conclusion? Lazy ass writing where Mashima once again sacrificed logic for the sake of plot. None dragon slayers can now easily take out dragons. Even though Mashima explicitly displayed dragon slayer magic was needed from Wendy’s enchantments to allow the others to fight. Hell, Brandish couldn’t even damage Mercphobia’s lacrima. Not even the dragon itself but a lacrima.

Idk why Gajeel, Cobra, and Laxus joined this arc when their magic type is useless and not being put to use. I guess Laxus is fighting a dragon but logically he should off-screen him with minimum difficulty considering even Juvia and base Gray can heavily damage a calamity blood dragon.

Remember when everyone made excuses for Juvia cutting Anchor?

“She used his own dragon magic against him.”

“It’s just a cut what’s the big deal?”

Juvia then finds a way to OVERPOWER Anchor and then one shot him with base Gray’s help WITH ZERO DRAGON SLAYER MAGIC.

What’s the excuse now?

If anyone plans to make excuses for chapter 211, just leave this post. You’re in too much denial. It’s very apparent Mashima doesn’t have a plan and is just writing nonsense at this point.

Characters are literally just disappearing out of the story because Mashima never had a concrete plan for them.

Where’s the rest of fire and flame? Diabolos? Gajeel? Cobra? Racer? Elfman? Elesferia? Gone.

Hiro literally brought in three dragon slayers in this arc only for two non dragon slayers to defeat one and human igneel randomly appearing to save the day. Everyone made excuses when Juvia scratched Anchor because she used his water against him. WHAT’S THE EXCUSE NOW? Base Gray and Juvia just one shot Anchor without dragon slayer magic the novelty of dragon slayer magic is gone, it’s not needed anymore to be effective against dragons.

Laxus and Levia has lost its punch. If base Gray and Juvia can beat a calamity blood Laxus should just straight up destroy Levia especially since he has dragon slayer magic as an advantage.

Earth-Build was defeated because Natsu needed to glory hog for the 200th time and now Lucy and Wendy are fighting AN INJURED WED, someone who was easily beaten by Natsu already, literal sloppy seconds. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lucy needed to use the Mercphobia key on Wed at this point, Igneel was randomly used for Earth-Build so why not?

And now Ignia’s goal is to just destroy the continent. Just like Acnologia. Holy repetitive and holy generic. Bland ass villain with bland ass motives.

This spin off is a shit show. Bottom of the barrel slop.
