have a 10 year old male rottweiler Max,so 10 days ago he stopped eating completely, before that for like 2-3 months he was lethargic and decreased the amount he used to eat and was getting skinny in his hind legs but I thought it was his old age kicking in and ignored it.so after he didn't for 48 hrs straight I took him to vet and told him everything.
He hooked him on iv and did blood tests kft and lft his creatinen level was 2 and urea 158,he told me to bring him every morning for iv to flush out those toxins,took him for 5 days with no improvement and he was loosing weight drastically,on the 5 the day they re ran the test and creatinine rose to 3 and urea to 163 he asked for 3 more days and on the 3 rd day(8 days in total)he gave me the medicines and told he'll get better but I know he isn't.
Gave him a days break and took him to another vet who suggested ultrasound which showed slight difference in kidney structure and 3 spleen masses one being 5 cm and creatinine is 4 now,he asked for iv twice a day and some medicines that he hates taking,he needs to be muzzle up for iv process which he doesn't like,he perked up a Lil after the first iv therapy but after the second iv therapy in evening he crashed really hard in the morning, wouldn't lift his head and won't move looked really exhausted,then i decided to stop,the next he was fine and lil energetic,he only eats treat by and hand would look away at most of the foods,I m feeding him everything he can eat but he's only eating ice-cream and pan fried chicken at the moment.its the 5th day of his break and he's still lethargic but better
Now my dilemma is should I take him to vet for those iv therapy or no cuz it's really traumatizing for him and his old body doesn't have the strength anymore.plzzzz
