It's been a busy time since I asked you whether there was interest in us setting one or more world records!
I wanted an approach was adaptable and able to keep up with community interest and energy if more and more of us wanted to join in. I adjusted the approach, getting me out of the way as a potential bottleneck, and plotted a journey through a dozen prospective records that are increasingly ambitious
Over 100 people participated in our first attempt in recent weeks, building a bridge styled after Technoblade's bridge in skyblock out to a length of 500k blocks! There are well over 1000 of us who have joined in over there, eager to support and potentially participate in future events
It was a heartwarming experience, with Technodad joining in to place the final blocks to complete the bridge - you may have caught the livestream on the Team Technoblade channel. It was an amazing experience, with many making new friends and finding joy in the process of building!
It was an emotional finale for many, with Techodad's participation coming as a wonderful surprise! (It wasn't their first surprise, though - he had dropped in some weeks before to take a look at the bridge, along with Tommy, Skeppy, and other familiar names that left many suprised and amazed!)
That part of our community have adopted the name "Keepers of the Blade", which came from the members themselves. It seems to embody the purpose behind what's happening - to preserve and grow the Technoblade legacy by doing things in such a way that they're uplifting, inspiring, and can support positive change (This last bit has included donations being made to causes of the community's choosing, with funding not coming from our pockets, but simply by steering our attention to platforms which can generate it for us)
As more and more of us join in, I'm hoping that it will set a positive example for other communities, showing how a passionate group can have an amazing impact in unexpected ways. If we wind up with enough of us, at the end of the records journey we'll 'unlock' what I've referred to as a "Final Boss" record - one involving the Technoblade channel itself - simply for the sheer number of us that'll likely be needed...things at that scale are incredibly ambitious, but we win these 😉
The original purpose of that corner of the community hasn't changed - centered on uplifting, empowering, and inspiring, fostering hope and more, in alignment with what I've been up to over at One of Us. The records component is exciting and energizing, but it's secondary to that core
I'll be analyzing and preparing the data from our first attempt in the weeks ahead, getting it ready for submission and review. That won't hold things up, though, the next record attempt won't be far behind...I'll keep you posted ❤️
