[Art] Astraeleos # 1 “The Oathbreaker’s Promise]
Astraeleos is a world I’ve built specifically just to make pieces for my portfolio, heavily inspired by DnD.
Astraeleos is a world ruled by the benevolent 12 Gods, inspired by the zodiac.
One of these Gods is Cancer, the God of Life. The paladins who swore their service to them are called “The Shielders of Life”, Paladins who swore their service to preserving life itself, seeing no one as their enemy, lending a helping hand to all, with no compensation.
“No soul shall suffer where I may stand.
I shall be shield before sword,
mercy before wrath,
and unity above all else,
even if it lead unto my ruin.”
Caelum is one of these paladins. blessed by Cancer, Themself, the Shielders of Life Paladins have significantly longer lives than normal human beings. And so Caelum, who has given all his life to serving his oath, has reached a monotony in routine, losing his spark and carrying on as nothing but a shell of what he was before his oath. That was until he met Elio.
Elio is a bard hailing from Veydras, a city following the teaching of Saggitarius, the God of Freedom. A sect of people believing that the world is big enough to be who you want to be, and that If you so wish, Saggitarius makes a may.
The two met on an expedition and fell in love, deeply. To Caelum’s detriment.
Caelum’s devotion for Elio grew by the day and it eventually out sized his devotion to his God and the people he swore to protect. Elio, protect and love only Elio, all else be damned.
Elio’s death came quick, nobody knows how or why but Caelum has a suspicion of who done it.
But still Caelum prayed, all day night he cried and prayed over Elio’s body till he passed out. But the only answer he got was silence. He went hungry and hoarse but he begged and begged his God, or any of the other eleven, for aid. But nothing.
