Just got accepted into Berkeley Haas EWMBA! I’ve been in my tech so far- starting out as a Software Engineer and recently moved into Product Management at a startup.

Trying to understand viability of moving into finance.

  1. Is it actually possible to get into a bulge bracket firm from Haas with my background? Seems very competitive given that most folks going into finance are going to have a finance background pre-MBA.

  2. Would you start as an Associate post-MBA even without prior finance background?

Is this the ladder: Associate -> VP -> Senior VP -> MD

  1. Is finance still a viable option in terms of demand and comp? (i.e., how hard has it been hit by AI?)
