Packraft POV through Switzerland’s Rhine Gorge (WWII-III, easy logistics)

Packraft POV through Switzerland’s Rhine Gorge (WWII-III, easy logistics)

I took my packraft through Switzerland’s famous Rhine Gorge and filmed a calm POV run that might interest anyone planning a trip in this area. The water is turquoise, the rock walls are steep, and most of the section is mellow enough to just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

What makes this gorge pretty unique is how easy the logistics are: you can bring your boats (also kayaks) by train and put in right next to the stations at Ilanz or Versam, and the river is mostly WW II-III with guaranteed minimum water level. I also show where to find the high-water markers and talk through basic safety considerations on this stretch.

If you are curious about paddling the Rhine Gorge, want a relaxing “virtual packraft” session, or are scouting lines for a future trip, here’s the video.

Happy to answer questions about water levels, sections, or public transport logistics in the comments.
