Water buffalo hide

I have some 5 oz water buffalo that is dyed and finished with a semi slick feel. It's fairly flexible but really "furry" (don't know the correct term...still learning) . It is veg tanned but I'm having a hard time burnishing it. Sand, tokenole, sand tokenole, repeat. Just not real happy with burnishing. Any suggestions or comments on this hide?

I got the pattern because I liked the design. But the pattern lacked in instructions and pictures did not match templates very well. No measurements or tips like skive pieces. Only a suggested leather thickness. Glue pieces together but no illustrations of where. Some made no sense to me. I figured out what to do based on a lot of info from this group and took a nice piece of 2mm and began.

I skived edges and managed to get fairly well aligned stitch holes thru 4 pieces. My corners are awful. I shouldn’t have cut them piece by piece. My edges aren't too flush either. My stitching seems OK considering my skill level. (Ignore top right....I was pissed by then.)

But the bigger problem is size....CCs are too tall in upper pockets. US currency won't fit worth a damn in bill compartment. But it's pretty.🤣

Lesson learned on templates....measurements twice-cut once.....or in my case, just measurements! And I learned a lot of other things......like I really never planned to make wallets anyway & now I confirmed it.😉

Tried my own creation of a pattern. It's close but needs modification. I'm thinking to cut odd 1/2 inch at folds to allow better zipper closure. It is my first zipper.

I have seen pictures of bench grinders with a burnishing tool attached & I want to do that. Is there somewhere you can buy such an attachment or do I figure out how to modify a wooden one?
