I need help from this community. I'm exhausted from being treated like a sales target every time I walk into a healthcare setting in Bangalore, and I'm hoping someone here can point me to a dentist who actually treats patients ethically.
What I'm looking for:
A dentist (ideally an independent/owner-run clinic, not a chain) who:
- Treats the immediate problem I came in for
- Doesn't push packages, aligners, or 'comprehensive smile makeovers' when I ask about a toothache
- Lets me decide the timeline and scope of treatment
- Will share X-rays, diagnosis, and treatment plan in writing without resistance
Proximity is not my priority. I'm willing to travel anywhere in Bangalore for someone trustworthy.
Why I'm asking - the pattern I keep hitting:
- Manipal Hospital, Sarjapur - emergency visit turned into ICU admission(₹50-60K): Went in with breathing issues. Got nebulization, was stable, but two doctors aggressively pushed ICU admission. Managed to convince me and my partner that ICU admission was necessary in my case because of so many XYZ reasons. Once admitted into the ICU, they kept me sedated overnight, more nebulization, ran unnecessary tests so that they could make the bill fatter, nothing the ER/general ward admission couldn't have done. When I asked to be discharged, they tried to scare me into signing DAMA. Then sent an 'admin' person for retention talks - my partner (in sales) immediately recognized the playbook and got the guy to admit he was from the sales team and that he was working on retention.
- Atlas and Physiotattva (HSR and Electronic City - physio/chiro, ₹25-35K packages): Both pushed multi-session packages upfront instead of letting me take my time and atleast evaluate their service and if I was ready to commit to an X number of sessions that they want me to pay for.
- Clove Dental, Electronic City (2-3 days ago): Went in for tooth pain. They spent 1.5 hours pitching Invisalign. Connected every dental issue I have - receding gums, crowding - to aligners. Quoted ₹3 lakh over 3 years, then 'discounted' by 40% with packages. The actual tooth pain was barely addressed.
The problem isnt budget or the amount these clinics and hospitals charge, the problem is how they upsell always without addressing my concerns. I genuinely lost that much money at Manipal (because was in a somewhat helpless state) but was somehow able to maneuver my way around Atlas,Physiotattva and Clove.
What I'd appreciate from this community:
- Names of dentists/clinics in Bangalore you've personally gone to who are experienced, ethical and who DIDN'T push unnecessary treatment and upsell
- Even better, if they're experienced independent practitioners rather than chains (Clove, Apollo White, Sabka, FMS, etc.)
- Specialists for tooth pain / RCT / general dentistry and orthodontics (for aligners)
- Any clinics to actively avoid would also be helpful
Note: Although proximity isnt a concern, would be great if you have recommendations in HSR / Koramangala / Electronic city specifically since they are closer to where I am.
