I have had a brokerage account with Fidelity for several years. Recently, they marked my account "restricted" for some reason.

I called customer service and asked about it. The representative said they received a report of some "adverse information" and I should take my business elsewhere. I asked what the adverse information was and he said he can't tell me but that they reserve the right to close an account at any time for any reason. I pressed him about what the adverse information in general could possibly be, he said "I think you know" and hung up. Well, I don't know.

I've heard that by law they are required to send me a copy of the report with said "adverse information" if I request it. So, my question is, how exactly do I go about requesting this report? What is the best way? Do I need to send a paper snailmail letter, and if so, to what department? What wording should I use in the request? Is there any technical jargon to be aware of? Is it possible to acquire a digital copy of the report?

This and any other prudent information is much appreciated. If this isn't the proper subreddit for this question, please direct me to a better one.
