Hi, so I’m in the UK and I’ve recently bought a caravan that has absolutely no 3G/4G/5G signal at all. Because of that, I decided to go with Starlink — but I am so confused.
The AI “Grok” customer agent on their website told me I’d have to pay for the equipment upfront. Yet when I went to place the order, the equipment charge showed as £0. There’s nothing in the FAQ about hardware costs or rental either.
So I went ahead and ordered, then asked Grok again about the charges — and suddenly it’s telling me I’ll have to pay a £29 + VAT equipment rental fee on top of the £35 per month service charge. Which has annoyed me, to say the least.
These companies really need to make their pricing clearer.
Does anyone here actually know whether there is a rental fee or not? My order confirmation doesn’t mention any rental cost, and it doesn’t even say it’s a 12‑month contract.
