Stage 3 colon cancer

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2023 after experiencing an unusual burning pain on the left side of my abdomen..insisted on a ct scan because it just felt off.

CT Scan revealed a tumor in the right side of my colon? ?

I was fortunate to have surgery very quickly and the tumor was removed successfully. It was suggested I receive a mop up of chemotherapy in the form of pills (Capox) for 4 cycles. I agreed to this course of action. After my first cycle the chemo resulted in massive inflammation causing a serious blockage in my small intestine. Hair loss, neuropathy..you name it. Seems my body totally rejected this treatment and it had to be stopped.

I have have been on active surveillance ever since and I am so grateful to report that I have been NED for almost 3 years.

Take away...this is my story. Would I have refused Chemo? .no. I would have taken the 4 cycles. I just could not possibly handle it.

I am grateful for the outcome under the circumstances. I don't drink, smoke, eat lots of veggies, fiber and good protein.l take Vit D3. I try to protect my mental peace. I hope this sends out some positivity to the people who are on this journey. Peace and love.
