Is This Réunion - Bangkok - Ho Chi Minh - Tokyo Itinerary Too Risky? (self haul)

Hi everyone,

I am considering the following itinerary for our family (2 adults and 2 children, ages 12 and 9), and I would like your opinion on whether it seems reasonable.

Réunion Island Bangkok-

Bangkok - Ho Chi Minh City -

Ho Chi Minh City Tokyo Haneda

The Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh and Tokyo segment would be booked with VietJet as a single itinerary, so I am not too concerned about that part.

The only part that worries me is the self-transfer in Bangkok. Our flight from Réunion is scheduled to arrive in the morning, and we would have about 6 to 7 hours before our VietJet flight departs in the afternoon.

We are an experienced traveling family, and the children are used to long trips and moving quickly through airports.

We may check one bag because we will be traveling in October and need warm clothing for Japan, although I am seriously considering traveling with carry-on only to save time and reduce the risk of delays.

The return trip is not a concern because we will spend several days in Bangkok before flying back to France.

Booking the trip this way would save us around 1500 eu ros compared with a single through-ticket.

What do you think? Does a 6 to 7 hour buffer in Bangkok seem sufficient for a self-transfer, or is this still too risky for a family traveling with children?

Thanks in advance for your advice

BTW filters refused this post on r travel no clue why
