So I just finished the show, blew me out of the water, etc. etc. I've been reading through the discussions here about the loops and nested simulations - while I won't pretend to fully grasp those, I have a general handle on it.

What's confusing me is the intervening time between the end of "present day" and the fast-forwarding through Maddie's simulations. How did she jump from not being uploaded to wielding UI power to make a Dyson sphere? And how did she end up alone for it? I'm not necessarily looking for exact answers, I'm okay with the unknown, but I feel like I'm missing something in this gap - did all the other UIs just put themselves into storage or use their "suicide" option??
