[Unpopular Opinion] The fandom is over-reading what HR future seasons will be about
I’ve seen too many people pretty much convinced that TLG-RM is being split into 2 seasons. But… nothing has actually been confirmed?
I think people are reading too much into Jacob’s:
> “Who said I’m doing it all? There’s a lot of material.”
He could’ve simply meant trimming the plot, collapsing timelines, removing side characters, etc. not necessarily that the book is being split into two seasons.
I’m especially convinced because of his comment here from the LA Times:
> “I don’t need to do 10. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey… I would rather be like, ‘Let’s see how much story we can pack into these episodes.’”
If you read that literally, it leans way more toward compression than expansion.
I also think that given:
- Hudson & Connor’s massive popularity
- The reported 3-season contracts
- The nature of RR’s upcoming Unrivaled book
- And (sadly) RR’s Parkinson’s diagnosis which only gets worse with time
We might actually see Shane & Ilya’s story end with Season 3, potentially adapting Unrivaled as the final chapter of their lives.
I personally don’t think Jacob plans to adapt every single Game Changers story long-term. As promising as the IP is, that feels like overkill for this specific genre.
Or maybe this is all just wishful thinking lol.
Personally, I’m a sucker for closure. Some of my favorite series ended because the creators knew and chose the right ending point, even if it was only a few seasons. I firmly believe all happy things should come to an end.
Thoughts?
P.S. If anyone has a masterlist/link compilation of interviews/articles involving Jacob, Hudson, Connor, etc. about Heated Rivalry, please share. I’m late to the fandom and desperately trying to consume every crumb of content 😭
