My son is in the Army stationed overseas in Italy. He is here in Washington State for some training. All of his travel was booked commercial through AA. When his training is finished, he is flying back to Italy from PSC with a layover in PHX.

I live in Phoenix so I am thrilled that I might have an opportunity to see him. I have not flown much since I moved here a couple of years ago, so I do not know how this airport works.

His layover is from 17:00 to 21:00.

1-What I am unsure about is how to handle this time. IF his plane is on time, can he just come completely out of the main airport area and hang out with me and then go back through security to go to his international terminal and gate?

2- Is it the same security line for domestic and international?

3- His luggage will automatically be checked through, right?

4- How long does he have, realistically, until he has to go back in?

5- Is it a long process from security to the international gates?

6- I know two hours is minimal to be at the airport for international flight, but he technically is already checked in, right?

7- Is being at his international gate one hour early enough?

Any advice welcome.
