PGY3 in regional NSW, current crit care year, interested in GP/RG training (GP anaesthetics most likely). Have never lived major metro and non medical partner will find it easier to work in a major city.

Have applied for RACGP 2027 and interested in trial of Melbourne/Sydney/Adelaide/Brisbane. Wondering about:
- How do GP regs find the pay/conditions/lifestyle stacks up in metro vs rural/regional, given the single employer model coming into existence vs Medicare rural billing incentives
- do many inner city GP registrars struggle/have to hustle more to be able to afford the cost of living given lack of rural incentive payments?
- does this follow the same trend as fellowed GP after registrar years when comparing urban/rural
- How best to learn about billings and how practice structures/funding overall works?

View would be to return to regional/rural likely NSW post training FRACGP and pursue RG fellowship. Alternatively may first try and pursue another crit care year to meet EMT requirements for RG fellowship.

Thank you so much!!
