Hi everyone

I recently got myself the Centauri Carbon 1 and I am loving it. I have had a Mars 2 Pro for a few years which I used off and on and moving to the filament printer means I cna do loads more. I have printed a couple of bits with relatively simple shapes, and after getting my head around using OrcaSlicer and looking at how the settings differ between a resin printer and filament one I feel like I have got the basics down

Currently I am trying to print some parts for the project which was the primary driver of me getting the new printer, and it feels like it is slightly cursed. My first attempt was how I discovered that the front of the print head pops off sometimes. After a very short google I found i wasn't the only one and general advice was to use some tape or a rubber band to hold it together. Bit of an annoying design flaw, but no biggie.

In the second print I noticed early on that the layers were curling up and not coming out level. I chatted with a couple of friends and they suggested cleaning out the nozzle as that may be the issue.

I cleaned the nozzle this morning and after remembering to print the waste bin and scraper that I kept forgetting about (which printed without an issue), I resent the main project print off, only to see the same curling and mess starting again from the first layer.

So my assumption currently is that the root cause here is me being a newbie at filament printin, so I wanted to fact check a few things before I send a fourth print off only to be scrapped.

First I ordered a few packs of the Elegoo PLA filament with RFID included which I thought meant the right settings for the printer are set up automatically. Does the slicer override this, and if so how do I check the besdt settings?

One friend suggested the nozzle may be coming too close to the bed (sorry if that's not the right word) and scraping what has printed already, but the curling isn't everywhere, infact most of the last print was ok, just a few areas where it was raised and curled. Is there a good height for a first layer like there is with resin? It looks like a first layer heigh of about 2mm is a good shout?

Finally, should I get a bit more time in with the printer before I start playing around with things like the variable layer height? I was hoping to use that as it would be nice to have some good detail without it taking a week to print, but if it's better handled by people with some time under their belt then I will forgo for now and put it on the "to be learned" list

Thanks in advance
