Hi all! I'm moving into my first apartment in the first full week of May and wanted some advice on how I can deal with this carpet. I am very taken with the entrance areas common in Japanese homes, where you're expected to take shoes off, and I don't like the idea of tracking mud or water onto the carpet when I come in because it'll make it harder to keep clean. I have a roll of linoleum vinyl flooring that I think would do the trick, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to secure it down without adhesive. My first idea is to use short nails to pin it to the subfloor under the carpet but I worry if it would leave lasting damage.
Does anyone have any better ideas or suggestions? I can't use a simple rug because the bottom of the door rubs a little on the carpet when it opens, so a rug would just get pushed around.
