I’m currently an MIS student at SJSU graduating in Spring 2027, and I recently decided to pivot into accounting with the goal of landing a Big 4 audit role. I live in Bay Area specifically.

Current situation:

  • Doing CPA track at Foothill to meet requirements
  • Planning to be CPA exam-ready by Spring 2027
  • Interning at City Hall (Public Works): invoice review, budget tracking, JVs, some financial reporting
  • Planning to join Beta Alpha Psi

Also have Excel, Tableau, Python — trying to position myself as accounting + data. Or open to audit/tax role.

Main questions:

  • Is Big 4 internship (Spring/Summer 2027) realistic for someone with my background, or should I focus on full-time roles instead?
  • What does the Big 4 recruiting timeline actually look like (when to apply, deadlines, etc.)?
  • If I don’t land anything before graduating, is MS Accounting/Analytics worth it?
  • How much does Beta Alpha Psi + networking impact chances?
  • What would you prioritize right now to maximize chances?

Appreciate any honest advice.
