Heyyy….
Graduated beauty school a few months ago & have just taken an apprenticeship as a chair renter. Wild situation but I figured clients were pretty easy to come by in hair school & they were willing to follow me to my next salon. I moved cities. Thought it would be hard, but not impossible, to rebuild that. Especially if I work a few days a week somewhere else to cover my chair rent. Lot of backstory that may not matter.
Anyways. I’m in a smaller town now, slower salon, not a lot of walk-ins or new clients coming through (though I was lead to believe there kinda would be). The one repeat client I’ve found was one I approached in person at a store and offered to cut for free, and colour for like a 50% discount.
How the hell do you build a clientele as a baby stylist in this situation? I know it’s going to take hustle - just want to know where you went, who you approached, where to look, etc, etc. Especially since I’m hearing the industry as a whole is slow right now 🥲
I knew this would be tough, but it has only been like a week and a half. I just want to be super proactive & get this shit on the road !! Any tips greatly appreciated
