LNMIIT ECE/CCE vs VIT Vellore CSE Spec (Cat 1/2) with IITM BS DS plan — need honest advice
I’m currently confused between two possible options and would really appreciate honest guidance from seniors, especially regarding workload, placements, peer group, ROI, and long-term growth.
My current likely options are:
VIT Vellore CSE specialization (Category 1 or 2 likely)
LNMIIT Jaipur ECE (possibly with AI/DS minor)
LNMIIT CCE (not confirmed, but maybe possible depending on later rounds/spot rounds)
My_qualifications:
JEE Main: 94.946 percentile
Physics: 96.7 percentile
Maths: 92.5 percentile
Chemistry messed up badly and dropped my overall score
Qualified for JEE Advanced
VITEEE rank: 6065
Planning to seriously prepare for BITSAT second attempt and also try for under 12k in Advanced
Long-term goals:
I’m strongly interested in tech/software/AI side
I have already decided to pursue the IIT Madras BS Degree in Data Science alongside college
But I plan to do it slowly over ~5 years (not rushing)
I may even pause/lighten IITM workload during placement season if needed
Later I’m considering MS abroad in a tech field (not fully decided yet)
My main confusion: If I get only LNMIIT ECE (not CCE), should I still prefer it over VIT Vellore CSE specialization?
Things I’m considering:
LNMIIT has stronger peer group/coding culture/smaller batch
But ECE + IITM BS may become stressful
VIT gives direct CS specialization and lower academic pressure
VIT fees in Cat 1/2 are much lower than LNMIIT overall
I feel IITM BS may help me stand out more in VIT due to huge batch size
But I also don’t want to miss a stronger environment if LNMIIT is significantly better
Would especially appreciate answers on:
Placement differences realistically
Workload and free time
Whether LNMIIT ECE students can comfortably prepare for software roles
Whether VIT’s large batch size becomes a serious issue
Which option is better considering IITM BS + possible MS abroad later
Please be brutally honest rather than optimistic. I really want realistic perspectives before counselling decisions.
