Hello, I hope you’re doing well. I’ve just come back from a lovely weekend in St. Ives. However, my partner and me have been left with a burning question and have come to Reddit for an answer. While lying near the old tower, we heard some Tupac blasting from the ledge below. Out of curiosity, I looked over and saw a man in a pharaoh outfit with a an Ankh. I’ll be honest: I thought there was some filming going on, which is why I looked over. I’m not really sure what he was doing - but, as you might expect, the sound of Tupac amid the Cornish idyll did get our attention.
The pharaoh then marches towards us, looking angry, and demands to know what we were looking at. We said “nothing”, generally a bit wary of which way the interaction might go, and then went on our way. We felt a bit like Mark and Jez from Peep Show, avoiding the elephant in the room of this slightly surreal encounter; or, in this case, the pharaoh on the Cornish cliff.
Part of me regrets not asking why he was dressed like a pharaoh but I’m glad I didn’t stay around to find out. But if anyone happens to know about the scary St. Ives pharaoh and the story behind it, I’d love to know.
Edit: photograph of where he was hanging around attached. I didn’t take a photo of him and certainly wasn’t going to try
