Is 5 POVs in a childrens (7-10 yo) novel too much?
I’m outlining my fantasy adventure, main cast is a group of 5 children aged 9-12, and I’m considering writing it in first person from all their perspectives.
My worry is that multiple POVs would be confusing for younger kids. One idea is to start with one child, go to another and so on, as changing POVs from chapter to chapter seems like it could be even more confusing, but in this case I worry about style and pacing.
I could possibly reduce main characters to three, that’s an option too, but I feel like I get more diversity, and more story, with five of them.
Also, maybe there are some good examples where this has been done well that I’m not aware of?
