Does anyone know why with the new (after 2) remarkables need to charge their pens???

I've been using my remarkable 2 for around 4ish years now & I'm often in it for hours on end. I've been contemplating upgrading, but now I see the new pens need charged & only have 1 hour of battery life, wtf? Do I need to buy two pens just so I don't need to take a 5 min break?

What's y'all's experiences with this??
