My brother is currently a student at Parsons, and honestly, the school is a joke. If you enjoy flushing $80k a year down the toilet for a "progressive" education that feels more like a dictatorship, this is the place for you.
1.The $20k Prison (Dorms)
Parsons forces freshmen to live in the dorms. My brother has actual medical documentation for a mental health condition, but did they care? Nope. They forced him in anyway. His neighbor was a literal nightmare—doing drugs, drinking, and blasting music 24/7. The guy even threw paint inside the dorm. We complained, but the school did absolutely nothing. We eventually had to rent an apartment outside just so my brother didn't have a total breakdown. The best part? The school kept the $20,000+ housing fee. They refused to refund a single cent. It’s not housing; it’s a ransom.
2.Academic "Justice"
The faculty here is something else. My brother has a professor who clearly has a "thing" against Asian students. My brother and his Asian classmates show up every day, do the work, and get treated like garbage. Meanwhile, there’s another student who skipped 7 or 8 classes, and the professor just passed them. When a student finally had the nerves to file a formal complaint, the professor sent an email a few days later basically threatening to fail them. Truly "inclusive" behavior, right? It’s a power trip, pure and simple.
- The Meal Plan Heist
This is where it gets really funny. They force you to put thousands of dollars into a meal card that can ONLY be spent on the school’s disgusting, oily, unhealthy fried food. But wait, there’s more: the money expires. If you don’t spend it by a certain date, the school just takes it. It’s literal robbery. They take your money, give you heart disease, and if you don't eat fast enough, they keep the change.
For a school that acts so "woke" and "human rights oriented," they sure love acting like a regime from the 1930s. They treat international students like walking ATMs and have zero respect for mental health or basic safety.
If you value your sanity, your dignity, or your bank account, stay far away from this place. Parsons isn't an art school; it's a social experiment in how much abuse you can pay to receive.
