My son 4y/o ASD enjoys pushing his face against mine/pushing his head against my face for proprioceptive input. I don't mind however he will be starting school in September and we want to try and redirect this to something more appropriate. He enjoys:
Wheelbarrow walking
Pushing against the table at mealtimes
Weighted blanket
Crashing
Carrying a backpack
Jumping
But none of them quite hit the spot/aren't appropriate in a school setting. Things we have tried that he hasn't engaged with:
Wall presses
Squeezy toys
Pushing/pulling
Walking on stepping stones/sensory tiles
Deep pressure hugs
Being wrapped in a blanket
Chewy toys/objects
Vibrating toothbrush
Pillow fights
Tug of war
Massage
It seems he doesn't like anything that defeats him e.g. trying to pull me up off the sofa - he will just give in after a few seconds 🤣
Any out of the box suggestions welcome!! 🤞
