Onyx Hoover apartments

I'm looking to rent at the Onyx Hoover. I'm not from Birmingham/AL, and I currently live out of state, so I cannot visit. What do you guys think about this place? They seemed really nice and helpful on the phone and sent me pictures of the unit since I couldn't tour. It's within my budget with the only downside is that it doesn't come with w/d, but they have a laundry facility. Is it a safe area? Any feedback on this place is appreciated! Thank you!!

For those of you who had an unsuccessful cycle and/or looking to reapply for next cycle (Master's or PhD), please reach out to the programs that are top choices for you and ask for feedback on your application. It could be due to funding, but it could also be a part of your application that may not have been competitive. This can include bad grades in specific courses they care about, lack of required experience, parts not clear in your SOP, bad LORs, etc. All of this that you wouldn't know if you don't reach out. So please...get in contact with them. Some may not reply to you, some may give you a generic "we cannot give individual feedback" response, but some (or one) may give you very valuable feedback.

This is exactly what happened when I applied last cycle for PhD and got rejected from all the programs. Everyone kept telling me funding was bad, but I still reached out for feedback regardless. One admission officer gave me very specific feedback on my SOP. I knew that's what I had to work on and reapplied this cycle with a better SOP and got multiple interviews and offers (w/ the same stats, same experience, same everything else).

It really does feel bad to be in this situation where sometimes you feel like your education/life is put on hold because you didn't get in and you have to struggle another year and another cycle of applications, but trust that it will all work out in the end. You will end up exactly where you need to be in life, even if it doesn't seem like it right now. Wishing you all the best!!
