I am about to finish my studies and I will be looking for full-time work soon. But even getting a student job has proved to be really challenging for me.

I have been living here for a little over 1.5 years. I am a dual citizen (US + Italy), I have lots of professional experience, I am multilingual, and I am pursuing my 3rd masters degree (at KU Leuven). I have applied for several jobs where I meet all the requirements but I don't even get an interview.

Is it mere discrimination or do most people find jobs via word of mouth/through their networks instead of the more traditional job interview these days? I'd particularly love to hear from people who are immigrants or who spent most of their lives abroad.
