Did equity measures backfire?
I'm talking about tracking pbis, and bussing.
I understand where they were going with getting rid of tracking, but feel like having one teacher with half to two thirds of a class in ademic or behavioral struggles puts everyone at a disadvantage. Many kids are missing out on instruction because of behaviors. Most don't get access to the teacher because others are using the classroom teacher as a one-to-one
PBIS is just straight up misapplied and ends up de-incentivizing the kids who do what they're supposed to and reinforces behaviors in those who do not
The busing situation, at least in my area, is ridiculous. By the time some of the kids arrive at school, they've been on a bus for nearly an hour and a half . Of course they're sleeping through the first two class periods.
All of these things sounded really good on paper , but they've resulted in more barriers to education from what I've seen
