Best screen extender alteratives

Hi yall,

I want to have a second screen for my monitor that I can easily use for travel or on my lap when I'm laying back on the couch but I feel like a portable monitor would be inconvenient since I can't place the screens side by side.

I was looking into screen extender that has monitors docked separately on the side to avoid hinge damage but I heard a lot of brands are not reliable and the overall quality is just not that great.

Anyone know good alternatives?

I wish there was a good middle ground like an accessory that can lock a stand on the bottom of your laptop with a monitor that swivels on the side or something but I haven't found such thing.

I went on vacation for a weekend and I came back to see these bugs in my bathtub.

My landlord painted over the rust and it’s been slowly rusting back. Could that be the cause? What bug is this?
