And it opens with Dantes going to a priest to confess that he wants revenge?!? What the fuck? There is no chance Edmond does that. Zero. I turned it off.

So he escaped, and I'm guessing he has the treasure at that point, and he learns what happened to Mercedes and his father, and then he just decides to go into a church and tell some random priest he wants revenge, and he's confessing...which is a thing you do when you are sorry that you've committed a sin. What book did they read? The count is a bad motherfucker who thinks he's above mortal men. He honestly believes that God saved him and made him rich so he could get revenge. Why the fuck would he feel the need to confess?

I'm sorry, I was really looking forward to a long TV series that would do the book justice, something that would show the Count as the complicated anti-hero he is, like Tony Soprano. I'm a purist for the book, and I HATE the 2002 movie. Someone tell me if I should give this series another chance or if I'm just going to break my TV?
