Just received an offer from a MNC that has been mass hiring since the start of the year. The offered start date is the start of July. I recall that they were quite open to negotiating the start date after the final interview round and it seemed like they had multiple windows for new hires to join.
Anyways the dilemma that I’m facing is this: I just recalled that I have some RSUs at my current company that’ll only be vested mid July. These RSUs are worth around $4,500 which is close to my 1 month salary.
Ideally I want to resign after mid July, which pushes my available start date to mid August given the 1 month notice period.
But if it’s going to risk the rescinding of the offer, then I’ll just eat the loss.
Questions:
- Is requesting a 6 week start date push-back considered reasonable?
- Any risk the offer gets rescinded or it creates a bad first impression with HR?
