Concern about small bark split in young Japanese Maple - a bug crawled inside!

I planted an orange flame Japanese maple last fall. It is honestly growing like crazy, seems very happy and has put on a lot of new growth in its first spring in the ground. This morning, I noticed a considerable split in the bark low on the tree. It is small (pic with my thumb included for scale lol) but seems to be deep - and as I was looking at it a tiny bug crawled into it! Nooooooo

Is this any sort of concern for the tree? It seems extremely healthy otherwise. I assume I should not do anything other than keep it watered/as stress free as possible? Any idea what the bug could've been? It was teeny tiny, pale-ish in color. Was not a termite.

Is this any sort of concern? Or 'tis but a scratch??

Thanks! Located in zone 7B.
