Hey all! Pretty much what the title says. Trying to put together a few ideas to pitch to my admin team for some kind of team volunteer activity and could use some help brainstorming.
A little context: we're in the education/research space, so anything connected to students or literacy is a natural fit, but we're open to anything good. We don't have a budget for a full VTO program yet, so I'm looking for something we can do communally in the meantime. Ideas need to work in one of two formats:
* Async: something people can do on their own in a dedicated block of time, not an ongoing commitment (e.g. we've come across transcription projects where you type up historical records from scanned documents, that kind of thing)
* In-office group activity during an all-staff lunch, roughly 2 hours, 30-50 people, ideally with a team-building element. e.g. writing/decorating cards for hospitalized kids.
Main constraints: needs to be 'apolitical' (we floated a voter registration postcard drive and it got flagged, even though it's not partisan 🤷), low infrastructure to set up, and zero to low cost. We don't have a budget for this, so free is ideal but we're open to something with a small materials cost if it's worth it.
What's worked at your org? Any specific nonprofits or platforms you've actually partnered with that made it easy to pull off? Thanks in advance!
