Hi!
I am 36 and I have been trying to conceive with my husband for around 11 months. Due to my age the doctors recommended we tried 3 rounds of IUI and if it doesn’t work 3 rounds of IVF. This is paid by the government.
I am usually very regular and I ovulate every month. I have a small cyst on one ovary but doctors said this should not interfere with getting pregnant. My husband has good quality sperm.
Our first round of IUI was cancelled because they missed my ovulation. The second round was done correctly as they were monitoring me a lot. However as I didn’t get pregnant they slightly increased the dose for the third one. They only asked me to get my first scan until day 12, when they found out that I had 5 follicles very well developed.
We feel extremely frustrated, as we believe we would have had higher chances to conceive without the clinic in the last 3 months.
We are not sure if having cancelled cycles is something normal that occurs that often. Could you please share if this has happened to you?
Also we are unsure if we should just pay and go straight to IVF or keep doing the IUI. We won’t get access to free IVF until we get the 3 rounds of IUI successfully implemented.
We are meeting the doctor next week. Any guidance on questions we should ask would be of great help!
